Support for Local Non-Profit Organizations The Club’s activities and contributions have provided support for numerous non-profit organizations in Silver City and the surrounding region.  Since the establishment of the Silver City Rotary Foundation in 2015, contributions are being channelled through it.   Important Information for High School Students 1.   For   Graduating   High   School   Seniors:   The   2017   Silver   City Rotary   Scholarship   competition   is   now   under way.   To   apply   for   a   $1,500   Rotary   college scholarship,   click   on   this   College   Scholarship Application    link   for   detailed   information   about the    application    process    and    to    start    an application. The application deadline is March 15, 2017. 2.   For   High   School   Juniors :   Nominations   for   the   2017   Rotary Youth    Leadership    Awards    (RYLA)    program    are    now    being accepted.   RYLA   awardees   get   to   spend   a   week   in   July   at   the Manzano    Moutain    Retreat    in    Mountainair    to    participate    in    an intensive leadership development camp. Candidates   should   be   rising   high   school   juniors.   Students   should talk   to   their   high   school   counselor   about   being   nominated   for   this exceptional    program.    Nominations    and    applications    should    be received    by   April    30,    but    earlier    applications    are    encouraged because   only   a   limited   number   of   openings   are   available   for   this unique opportunity. Announcing the 2017 Rotary Auction The next Silver City Rotary Gala & Charity Auction has been re-scheduled for October 7, 2017 in a location to be announced. Beneficiaries of the Auction will be: Life Quest To assist in purchasing one or more used vehicles (minivan or sedan) to enhance the ability to deliver early intervention services to chidren with or at risk for developmental delays in Grant County The Gila Valley Library To expand the children’s program area from 80 square feet to include an outside gazebo to accommodate the expanding children’s program. The Silver City Gospel Mission To assist women and children who reside in Sierra House, their traditional housing unit, in moving to permanent housing. Funds for support services, bus passes to attend appointments, and for income support. Income support would be for employment at the Farmer’s Market mobile food pantry. The Club is currently inviting donations of auction items as well ticket purchases, table sponsorships and other sponsorships for the Auction. Tickets (not tax-deductible): A $300 table sponsorship can be purchased by clicking the next button. A table sponsorship entitles the sponsor to ten  tickets and we hope that the sponsor will bring employees, family members or friends who will use those tickets.  $100 of the sponsorship price is tax-deductible. Another option is a simple sponsorship, which will entitle the sponsor to two tickets, and all but $40 of the sponsorship amount will be tax-deductible.
