The Imagination Library’s mission is “to promote reading readiness and language proficiency for all Grant County preschool children by delivering books to their homes monthly, thereby giving them the foundation for future learning success.” The Imagination Library has received funding from the Club and will also be a beneficiary of  the 2014 Auction. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Each year, the Club participates in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program. This program seeks to provide young adults, ages 14-30, with an opportunity to develop their skills and character while exposing them to Rotary’s values of service, high ethical standards, and peace. The RYLA Camp conducted by our Rotary District (District 5520 - New Mexico and West Texas) is held in July each year and is designed for students who are between their junior and senior year in high school. There is a one-week camp for boys and a separate one-week camp for girls. Applications are due in mid-March, but later applications can be accepted. The Rotary Youth Leadership Program The Rotary Leadership Program is a collaboration between The Wellness Coalition (TWC), The Rotary Club of Silver City, Local School Districts, Community Leaders, and Elected Officials. Our goal is to provide local youth with an opportunity to participate in Issue Based Leadership training. Participating youth will increase their knowledge of community and global issues, their leadership skills, and their self-confidence. They will develop tools for making community change and taking positive action. Participants who attend the weekend sessions will be eligible to participate in the Rotary-sponsored Leadership Awards Ceremony held in May.  They will also automatically be admitted to TWC’s free 2-week summer leadership camp. High school students in their junior year will be eligible to apply for Rotary’s free 1-week summer leadership camp. The program is open to all interested Grant County youth currently middle or high school aged. Click here for further details and to access a registration form.
