Club Assembly

Announcements:
Tom&Jim: Hygiene project. Nurses report that the Lions Club is doing regular, routine vision tests, so Rotary should focus on the dental aspect. There will be a date and time with dental hygienists to give a presentation on how to brush and floss teeth for kids. Rotary members are encouraged to attend for moral support. We still have to work something out with the dentists so that they will accept our vouchers in payment for dental exam or dental work.
Carlos announced that there would be a brief board huddle after the meeting.

Today was a Club Assembly. We had further discussion of the Hygiene Project and how it can be developed to include dental hygiene and dental care. We also discussed the upcoming District Grant cycle and what project we should propose for the next District Grant. We may be entitled to as much as $5,000 in the new round if we come up with a suitable project. The current incarnation of the Hygiene project extends to June 2025 and we have quite a bit of money for it from the 2023 District Grand and the proceeds of the Centennial Celebration. Thus, we should probably come up with a new project for the 2024 District Grant.
There was discussion of doing something to permanently memorialize the club's 100th anniversary, such as planting trees or burying a time capsule. No conclusion was reached, but at least two members will attend the District Grant training this year (in March), so that they can put in a proposal once a decision has been made.
