Announcements:
Ray Goellner passed around a proposed flyer for the Piano Concert we will hold on February 17 (a fundraiser for the GRMC Foundation and the Silver City Rotary Foundation). He will be sending this out to club members digitally with a request that we print and post flyers every place appropriate AND plan to attend on 2/17.
Jim Callender requested volunteers to serve on the committee to award scholarships to WNMU applicants. (Applications are due 1/31/24 and applications will be emailed to club members who serve on this committee.) Ben Jenkins and Annacaite Caperton volunteered. If you are also interested, please see Jim Callender.
Tom Bates asked for volunteers to assist with food distribution at the Commons and in Bayard on 1/17 at 1pm. Leslie Bush and Anacaite volunteered.
Ben Jenkins announced that the Student Life Committee is hosting a mobile food distribution on the third floor of the Student Center on 1/17 after noon

Steve Chavira introduced our speaker, Susan Beck, president of WILL (Western Institute for Lifelong Learning). Susan presented the history of WILL, which was formed in 2005, and described WILL’s partnerships with WNMU and with the Silver City Museum. She also reviewed the roles of staff and volunteers and the variety of courses offered through WILL. In addition to the approximately 150 courses made available each year, WILL hosts “Lunch and Learn” sessions which are free to the community and participates in other cultural programs and events.
